~Dickerson 7011 Special
~Dickerson 7011 Special; 7 ft 2pc/3 tips (one short) 2¼ oz. Lyle Dickerson made rods shorter than this, but never any rods of lighter action than this very rare example built in 1952. My deflection board puts it as a clear #3 line rod, though I haven't had a chance to cast it. Perfect ferrule fits, excellent varnish and overall at least very good condition. Both full length tips have slight right hand sweeps, one a touch more than the other, but not objectionable or unexpected from a well loved rod. There are dimensional notations, most likely in Dickerson's hand with a ball point pen, on the rod bag for each tip as seen on one of the close-up photos. Everything is light weight, including the choice of reel-seat spacer (cedar?), aluminum butt cap and slide band, and the use of a snake guide for the stripping guide (like on old Leonard Catskill Fairy rods). Ferrule blue is original and remains in excellent condition. The wood spacer for the reel-seat has a crack on one side as shown in one of the photos, and of course one tip is down as if it broke just below the tip top and then had a new tip top mounted. One of the rarest Dickersons, and certainly the lightest action he ever built; for the dedicated Dickerson collector and angler. In original leather and aluminum tube and bag. For domestic sale only.
