Max Yerxa 7½ ft 2pc/2tips #4 line
Max Yerxa 7½ ft 2pc/2tips #4 line rod. Max was granted the right to make rods on the E.C. Powell patent after leaving Powell’s employ after WWII. Max’s uncle, Wood Yerxa, was very much involved with E.C. Powell, teaching him to dry fly fish and being instrumental in the design and production of the Powell saw for mitering the bamboo strips. You can read more about the details of this relationship in my book on E.C. Powell A Fly Rod With a Soul. This is a very desirable light-line model in the 7’6” length and will be a joy on small to medium-sized streams. Condition is excellent & original throughout with no issues worth mentioning except for a soiled grip. Agate stripping guide and chrome snakes. Faded script above the grip reads "Yerxa Rod / Colusa, CA / 7½' Stream Rod #4 Line." Rods from this maker don’t come up very often and even less so at this shorter length. From the Thomas H. Clark collection. SOLD
