H.L. Leonard 'Miramichi' model 72
H.L. Leonard 'Miramichi' model 72; 9 ft 3pc/2 tips salmon rod 7⅛ oz. The actual weight of the rod including the rubber end button is 6⅝ oz, so I don't know why the label on the tube is marked 7⅛ oz, but it is. This is a very nice package for the angler who wishes some classic times on a salmon river fishing bamboo. I have fished nothing but bamboo for salmon and steelhead for about the last 35 years. Action is powerful and smooth and the label calls for a #9 line, while I would probably prefer a #8. This rod has been used and remains in excellent condition with perfect varnish throughout and perfect ferrule fits. It has the very slightest sweep to the right from right handed casting, barely noticeable. It is really a beautiful package ready to fish with its special carbaloy ring tip tops and screw-in detachable fighting butt. The fighting butt is housed in its own separate pocket, attached to the rod bag, the whole fitting inside the tube with f.b. on top of the main rod in typical and correct Leonard fashion. The twill tape closure for the fighting butt could use fixing, as someone in the past saw fit to cut it, making it difficult to secure the fighting butt in its pocket. In original bag and labeled Leonard tube. SOLD
