F.E. Thomas Browntone 7 ft 2pc/2 tips 2¾ oz
F.E. Thomas Browntone 7 ft 2pc/2 tips 2¾ oz. Those of you who know Thomas rods realize how rare these little seven footers are and this one is a gem. It is marked just as 'fly' in the F.E. Thomas register, but I would judge it to be the 'fast dry fly' or 'very fast dry fly' as discussed in older Thomas catalogs. It has a wonderful, very fast dry fly action with its fine tips combined with dramatic swell above the grip. Built in 1948 it remains in excellent, used condition with no need for attention anywhere before fishing. Perfection stripping guide and left hand twist 'English' snake guides throughout. I did put one small drop of varnish on a spot on the reel-seat filler that needed it. With a #4 line, this rod will delight you on smaller waters. In original bag and Thomas tube (old decal Thomas label scratched off) and with a tag, but the tag is for another seven footer, not this rod. From the Thomas H. Clark collection.
