Jim Payne model 202, 8ft 3pc/2 tips
Jim Payne model 202, 8ft 3pc/2 tips for #5 and 6 lines. This is a very late version of this model built while Jim was still in the shop and it remains in excellent, lightly used condition throughout with perfect original varnish. An interesting feature is that one tip is built with a decidedly stronger taper than the other; I would use the lighter tip with smaller dry flies and the stronger tip with larger flies and wets. The locking nut is stamped "Payne / Reg. US Pat Off" and on the opposite side "Made for Abercrombie & Fitch". The reel-seat is up-locking with Spanish Cedar or Mahogany spacer and the standard Payne style grip. Wraps are the standard Payne brown tipped yellow over tungsten steel snakes and ferrule blue is about 99% perfect. Ferrule fits are the expected Payne perfection. These later Paynes did not come with tags, but the original ferrule plugs are present. In original bag and labeled tube (blue label mostly intact and protected by tape). From the Thomas H.
