Dickerson 8014; 8 ft
~Dickerson 8014; 8 ft. 2pc/2 tips, 4½ oz for #6/7 lines. Built in 1955 for John S. Sweeney Jr. who was Dickerson's best non-dealer customer. He ordered 21 rods over the years according to the Dickerson ledger. Both tips are marked JSS Jr above each ferrule. Reverse half Wells grip; down-locking reel-seat with walnut spacer; 3x3 node spacing. A characteristically fast, positive action that will drive a #6 line, though I prefer it with a #7. This rod remains in remarkable and excellent original condition throughout appearing to have been little used. This rod is included in the Schaff/Stein Dickerson book on page 54 which shows a list of rods being sold by Wanigas Rod Co. in 1972 after Mr. Sweeney's passing. It is rod #42 on the list. In original light olive-gray bag and original tube with a replacement cap made by Bob Summers (marked 'RWS' inside cap). SOLD Click on smaller images to enlarge
