Hardy reproduction 1903 Bougle
Hardy reproduction 1903 Bougle. This is one of the very nice repro reels that Hardy produced in the 1990's including the check mechanism from the period. These are entirely usable reels for modern fishing, not just display items for the shelf! I remember using mine on the Missouri many years ago and hooking and landing fish after fish up to well over 20" on a secret fly a friend had shared with me. Those of you familiar with the 'Half a Chicken' will know the pattern. The working roller pillar acts as a good line guard in use. As I have said before, I feel the Bougle, being basically a raised-pillar Perfect, is the ideal trout reel in many respects, the higher pillars keeping the reel from interfering with the line on a spool fully loaded. This one has been used, but shows no sign of it, remaining in at least excellent + condition. In original fitted Hardy block leather case.
