Brandin 964-2 wf/df 'Mahogany', 9½ ft 2pc/2 tips, 4.59 oz for #4 line. This is my evolved version of E.C. Powell's 'Truckee River Special' which was designed to fish dry flies to pocket water with light lines. You can read more about my development of these rods on my 'Models in Development' page on this site. I find these rods, along with the #5 line version, to be perhaps the most efficient tools to catch trout I have used. The great length combined with light lines yields great line control and also a lot of butt lifting power for landing large fish. They are a rather extreme tip action and will take some adjustment on the part of the angler in casting and presenting the fly which will generally be a dry fly or a North Country Spider type. Because of their length and relatively softer tip, they also are best used with a long handled net if you don't have a buddy to net your fish. They are not for the novice fly fisherman. This rod is from my personal collection and has seen light use by myself only, and remains in excellent + condition throughout with the only real sign of use being some soiling of the cork grip. Agate stripping guide with modern Snake Brand dark snake guides and a 'Thomas Streamer' type butt cap with slide band over mahogany spacer reel-seat. In original bag with provision for ferrule plug storage, labeled brass / aluminum capped tube and outer tube bag.
