~Jim Hidy 8 ft. 3pc/2 tips for #4 line, ser. #Z24442 H-3. This rod is new (unlined and un-fished) and is a light action rod for #4 line. When I started studying and fishing bamboo rods in the 1970's my 'holy grail' was to find an 8 foot rod that fished a #4 line well; this rod would have been beyond a dream come true for me in those early years with its light, smooth action and wonderful feel in the hand. Jim was good friends with my old shop-mate Mario Wojnicki and it was Mario's and my work in that shop in El Cerrito which inspired Jim to evolve his own building that includes hollowing. Swiss style ferrules, agate stripping guide and light wire dark steel snake guides are nice details and combined with a distinctive grip shape and mortised reel-seat filler, all come together into a recognizable style consistent in Jim Hidy's work.
