H.S. Gillum 8'9" salmon
~H.S. Gillum light salmon rod 8ft 9in 2pc/2 tips. This model Gillum is seen much more rarely than the 9 or 9½ ft models. My own preference is for an 8'9" rod for both light salmon and steelhead fishing. This rod embodies that rare combination of power and smoothness in its fast action. Gillums, with their stylish detachable fighting butt are perhaps the most iconic rod seen on North American salmon rivers. This rod has been used and remains straight and true with perfect ferrule fits. It is a resorcinol glued rod and has the proper 'H.S. Gillum / maker' stamp on the locking nut. Both the original varnish and cork grip could use some care, as there are areas of roughness and ridging in the cork and places where the varnish should be touched up. In original bag and tube.
