~Jack Coyle 'Companion'; 8 ft/7 ft 2 in, 3pc/2 tips
~Jack Coyle 'Companion'; 8 ft/7 ft 2 in, 3pc/2 tips (and two butts), semi-hollow six strip 3½/2⅞ oz for #5 line. Many of you already know the name Jack Coyle, having seen the rods he has built or perhaps one of his exquisite restorations of classic rods. Jack has built rods for many years now, for himself and good friends and he is now retired and has time to share his talents by offering an occasional rod for sale. This rod borrows the 'Companion' idea from E.C. Powell in making two different length butt sections, creating a very versatile rod capable of covering small streams or larger waters as well. I've had a number 5 line on both combinations and it casts very well indeed. The 8 ft version feels like a hollow-built Payne 201, while the shorter combination has a touch more semi-parabolic feel, somewhat reminiscent of a Young 'Driggs River.' The pictures speak for themselves as to the beauty of Jack's work. My wife has sewn the rod bags for Jack's rods for some time now, and though not pictured here, there will be an outer tube bag as well for this rod. If you look at my listing for Jack's 'Payne 204' you will see the style of this outer bag. A special long ferrule plug, made from a rod section, makes up the difference in length between the two butts. Rod remains in as-new, lawn cast only, condition and has the original bag, ferrule plugs, brass-capped labeled tube, and outer tube bag. SOLD
