~Paul Young Para 15
~Paul Young Para 15 2pc/2 tips. This rod is marked '1959' so was built while Paul was still alive; he passed in 1960. This is the great action Para 15 in its evolved design, perfected over years and with both the dry and wet tips. With the two different tips this rod will cover a great range of fly fishing for trout or bass with everything from small dry flies to streamers and nymphs. An iconic American bamboo rod to be sure. Rod is straight and true with perfect ferrule fits and the varnish is excellent throughout showing only minor signs of use. Correct red spiral wrap at the tip top and ferrule of the dry fly tip. Age has oxidized the barrel of the aluminum locking reel-seat; it works fine as is or could be polished out. Cork shows some ridging from age and there is a split about two thirds of the way up the grip as is sometimes seen on these parabolic tapers that bend so readily all the way into the grip. In original bag and I believe the tube is also original, though I have not seen quite that style with the chain attached to the cap before. From the Thomas H. Clark collection. $2,150 SOLD
