Gillum 8½ ft 2pc/2 tips, 5¼ oz (on tube label) strong trout rod. Like the Stagg salmon rod by the same maker on this site, this rod remains in absolutely mint, original condition. Rods of this vintage and condition almost never show up in today's market and this one will take your breath away. Like the Stagg salmon rod, this rod absolutely glistens. My deflection board tells me it will like a #7 or 8 WF line, so clearly a rod for larger trout and flies. Resorcinol glue and the proper "H.S. Gillum / Maker" stamp on the locking nut as well as witness / alignment dots on ferrules. I knew Harry Darbee, famed Catskill fly tier in my younger years and he was a great proponent of Gillum rods for both trout and salmon angling. He was not alone; the great artist and angler John Atherton describes in his book "The Fly and the Fish" his ideal trout rod and ends it with "And I would ask 'Pinky' Gillum to make it for me."
